About Kisspeptin
Kisspeptin is a hormone related to sexual desire in men and women. It is currently the subject of intensive studies in Britain, conducted by the NHS in conjunction with Imperial College Healthcare in London.
Early results suggest that kisspeptin works for both men and women, and may stimulate the release of other reproductive hormones, which could lead to enhanced desire. However, researchers agree that more investigative studies are needed to get the full story of Kisspeptin. Presently, during the studies, kisspeptin is administered to participants by means of injections. This may change.
Preliminary research has also revealed that kisspeptin appears to have absolutely no side effects. This is not the case with other reproductive hormones, which are more mechanical, and prone to side effects. Kisspeptin works with neurological links in the brain, and works differently, but successfully, with men and women.
Unfortunately, there have been very few hormonal treatments that have been very positive in boosting libido or desire. It is not known why people sometimes lose interest in sex in their partners, or even in their own sexual feelings, and are frustrated when various treatments do not help.
Promising results and testimonies from participants in kisspeptin studies could offer new hope to those needing sexual restoration. In addition, kisspeptin may be the saving grace for many failing relationships.
Some positive study results
- Kisspeptin can open the path to true sexual arousal.
- A study conducted with a group of men with very low levels of sexual desire, showed higher brain activity in the parts of the brain responsible for arousal, after taking kisspeptin – when compared with a group taking a placebo.
- Women with a high level of frustration about their libidos, reported that their response to sex was much improved after taking kisspeptin.
- The men also reported that they were much happier about sex after taking kisspeptin. Erections were stronger and lasted well during the sexual encounter.
The research is ongoing, in consultation with the British NHS, who are partly-funding the studies at the Imperial Clinical Research in London.
The way forward
Researchers previously showed that kisspeptin boosted libido in men who didn’t have low sexual desire. However, it could also be used by people who have low libidos after other reasons, such as antidepressant meds, low levels of testosterone, depression, anxiety, and underlying medical issues are ruled out.
A US endocrine expert, who has no ties to the new research, noted that kisspeptin seems to be the first hormone to use safely and comfortably, in both men and women to assist sexuality.
When a partner no longer feels desire for the other, relationships can become filled with doubt, resentment, rejection, and begin to drive a wedge between them, putting the relationship in danger of collapsing.
